Every summer transfer window brings a lot of excitement to the EPL, and the one behind us was exceptionally eventful. From the current champions Liverpool breaking the English transfer record to this year’s favourites Arsenal filling out their bench, we’ve seen a wave of bold, attention-grabbing moves. Of course, other clubs have also made significant additions of their own. With all that said, it’s time to look at which summer signings have been most impactful so far in the season.
Martín Zubimendi – Arsenal
Many football fans refer to Arsenal’s summer transfer window as almost perfect. They didn’t just fill out their need at the striker position by signing Viktor Gyökeres, but they addressed several other key gaps across the squad as well. Among those additions, Martín Zubimendi stands out as the most essential. Even before he rejected Liverpool in 2024 and agreed his Arsenal move before the last season finished, the Spaniard was seen as someone who can dictate tempo, stay defensively secure, and allow more creative players to thrive. The start of the new campaign showed that he doesn’t need time to adapt to English football, and he has already begun to validate the hype. He crowned his early performances with a world-class goal against Nottingham Forest and a series of outstanding all-around displays. With an almost perfect summer transfer window and high-level early-season performances, bookmakers now view the Gunners as the clear favourites to win it all. All of the UK’s best betting sites justify this confidence through Arsenal’s defensive and possession stats, among other numbers.
Jack Grealish – Everton
Despite winning seven titles while at Manchester City, Jack Grealish’s time at the club wasn’t seen as extremely successful. During his time at the club, he was more of a squad player than a real difference-maker, as he was previously considered to be. This resulted in the former Aston Villa star making a loan move to Everton in the 2025 summer transfer window, a decision that has already begun to rejuvenate his career. Not only did Grealish impress on his full debut for Everton, but he was also crowned the EPL player of the month for August. His goal contributions have slightly fallen off since the start of the season, but he’s been a key player for the Toffees and looks like he could be the team’s main creative engine for the rest of the campaign. Grealish’s Everton loan move also includes a £50 million buy option, and it’s not difficult to see him sticking to the team long-term. The Toffees are also performing quite well under David Moyes this year, and things look good for both the player and the team.
Bryan Mbeumo – Manchester United
It looks like Manchester United are slowly turning things around this year after a catastrophic 2024/25 season. Ruben Amorim’s tactics are working better, and the squad has looked much better lately. Much of this is thanks to Bryan Mbeumo, who the Red Devils brought in from Brentford this summer in a £70 million transfer. The Cameroonian has bagged multiple important goals for Manchester United this season and looks like the team’s most important piece next to the captain, Bruno Fernandes. He came back from that penalty miss against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup and has been exceptional in the EPL, where Manchester United fight for a European spot next year. The Red Devils will undoubtedly miss Mbeumo once he heads out to AFCON together with Noussair Mazraoui and Amad Diallo. Amorim has recently asked their respective nations to delay their departures as he wants to have them at his disposal for the Wolves game on 8th December.
