There is a growing belief that this season will bring about Liverpool’s 20th Premier League title since winning it in 2019-20. Is it too early to have such beliefs, and what indices made this opinion prevalent among the Liverpool faithful? Read on for a breakdown of their season so far.

Soaring to the top of the EPL table

The excellent start the Liverpool team has made so far, is something many people would have not thought possible. There were fears regarding how the club could cope with the departure of Kop favourite and legendary manager Jurgen Klopp. However, Arne Slot has settled into life in the dugout almost seamlessly guiding the team to 11 wins, two draws, and just one loss after 14 games. This leaves them first in the standings with 35 points and a game in hand on the chasing pack.

These strong performances become more impressive considering they include solid victories against title contenders like Manchester City and Chelsea, a solid draw away to Arsenal, and victory over eternal rivals Manchester United who they defeated by three goals to nil at Old Trafford back in September. Their next meeting with the Red Devils scheduled for 05 Jan 2025 is expected to end in another win for the Merseyside club.

For the better part of English football history, Liverpool vs Man U clashes have been crunch matches for the league title and bragging rights. However, this fixture doesn’t really have any title implications. With the Red Devils are struggling at the bottom half of the table (13th position), Liverpool are the clear favourites. Their chances of winning the League title

They boast the third-best attack in the league with 29 goals and the tightest defence with 11 conceded. Obviously with star players like Salah, Van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, it’s been a nearly perfect display.

The growing sentiment that Liverpool stands the highest chance of winning this season’s Premier League title is due to their exceptional performance as well as inconsistent performances from their so-called nearest competitors. The closest title contender right now is a Chelsea side that has already lost to the Reds earlier in the season. Unless the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal get more consistency into their game, it’s safe to say the League title is theirs for the taking.

Nothing is set in stone, but Liverpool seems to be steamrolling through in their pursuit of their 20th league title. The Reds look like the part, having established a healthy lead. And it’s just their luck that other title contenders have been underperforming.

I’m in the fortunate position to have a personal trainer who has helped me plan my training and continues to help me improve my fitness for the mountains. So with a bit of help from him, here’s our guide to training for a big mountain hike.
